Hidden Dive Sites in Curaçao: My Favorite Off-the-Map Spots

By Lorenzo, Instructor at Blue Bay Dive

Hi, I am Lorenzo, one of the instructors here at Blue Bay Dive Curaçao. I am 28 years young and still just as stoked to jump in the water as I was on my very first dive.

Living and diving full-time in Curaçao has given me the chance to explore way beyond the popular dive spots. Do not get me wrong, Tugboat and Playa Kalki are awesome, but the real magic happens at those lesser-known sites that most people never get to see.

A hidden gem just past our house reef at Blue Bay

Just past our house reef at Blue Bay, there is a stretch of reef that barely anyone dives. I took a buddy out there recently and we ran into a turtle, a barracuda, and the biggest school of jacks I have seen all year. No boats. No crowds. Just us and the reef. It was one of those dives you do not forget.

Snake Bay: better than it sounds

Another favorite of mine is Snake Bay. I know the name sounds a little odd, but it is one of the most underrated dive sites on the island. The reef is full of soft coral, curious eels, and if you are lucky, a few relaxed reef sharks cruising by. We call it a sneaky good spot. From the surface, it looks quiet, but underwater it is full of life.

Snorkeling at Playa Jeremi

Even when I am not diving, I am out exploring the water. Playa Jeremi is my go-to snorkeling spot. It is peaceful. The reef starts just a few fin kicks from the shore, and I have seen everything from octopus and colorful reef fish to a baby turtle cruising solo.

Let’s go explore together

Curaçao is packed with hidden underwater gems, and I love showing people the side of the island that does not show up on postcards. If you are on the island and looking to see something different, swing by Blue Bay Dive and let’s explore something off the map together.

Catch you underwater,

Lorenzo
